Reeling Silk

Reeling Silk Video Clips. Duration : 0.70 Mins.

Reeling silk from cocoons at the Silk Retreat in Port Ludlow, July 2010. The cocoons are simmered in a baking soda solution to soften them. The single thread of silk from each of about 15-20 cocoons is gathered together and reeled off onto a piece for cardboard. At the end of this clip there's a little footage of pulling cocoons into silk hankies.
